Paper recycler merges with shredding company

Balcones Resources, large paper recycler and environmental services company based in Austin, Texas, is merging with Austin Shred, a provider of off-site document destruction services.

Financial terms of the deal, in which of Austin Shred becomes a Balcones company, were not disclosed.

"With our combined equipment and increased capacity, we will now be able to offer customers a faster, wider variety of document destruction services at a lower price," said Balcones CEO Kerry Getter.

Balcones, which specializes in the recycling of high-grade paper, only recently started its own shredding division. Adding Austin Shred means the company now can handle more than 1,000 tons per month, the company said.
